Setting up kid's iTunes account
#1
Trying to set up an iTunes account for my soon to be 11 year old. Seems I have to lie about his birthday to make him 13 or iTunes indicates that he isn't authorized to create an account. ( I removed parental restrictions on his login and iTunes account to no avail). Once I lied about his birth year, I got to the payment section. It appears that you can no longer create an account that isn't tied to a credit card, pay pal account or similar in iTunes 10. Is there anyway around this?

If I had kids, they would operate through my iTunes account so that I had visibility to the best of my ability on what they were downloading, viewing, etc.

iTunes I think should be a supervised activity. Just like the internet. IMHO

I don't want him on my account as I have songs and movies that aren't age appropriate. I can supervise his iTunes account via parental controls in iTunes and OSX. I don't want it tied to a CC or other source of funding. He's free to download free apps that meet the parental controls.

The allowance thing seems OK, but it's too bad you can't set up an account based on iT gift cards.

Gift cards seem more appropriate for-- well, gift occasions.
