Yeah, I caught that. Note the "lifetime president" quote. What is it about Haiti that we just can't seem to help them get it right...instead we help them make it wrong...repeatedly.

The coverage I've read has been interesting . . .
"yeah, he did some bad things but I hope he will do good things for us now."

In much of the world (including my part of Chicago) there's widespread acceptance of the idea that political office is something one "wins" like a lottery, and having one's hand in the pot is just part of the earned spoils of victory.

Maybe he can get them out of the muck and then be dealt with when the time comes. Nothing else seems promising. Apparently Bill Clinton is not getting the job done.

So to get the trains to run on time, they'll turn from a steady flow of third world kleptocrats and go straight for crazy dictator / kleptocrat ?

I personally can only assume that Monsieur DuValier's fortune has been all used up. After all, he's been 'in exile' for 24 years. I guess you can run through a stolen fortune in that amount of time.... Ah, wiki says he lost his 'fortune' to a divorce in '93. Oopsie...

Interesting timing that Wikileaks is reportedly about to publish Swiss Bank records.

Doesn't look like he is being welcomed with open arms.
