ipod setup on other computer question
#1
I'm giving my cousin an iPod Touch. She's in another state and not extremely savvy. If I do all of the initial setup on my Mac, what will happen when she plugs it into hers? I won't be loading anything onto it, just want to register, update and do the general setup for her.

I think what will happen is that she'll see a message saying it's already setup for a different iTunes, leaving her with only the option of fully erasing/restoring it---in other words, doing it all by herself anyway but with the added confusion of that unnecessary dialog box.

Someone here will let me know if I'm wrong.

She won't be the first to use one on her own; she'll be able to figure it out if she pays attention and isn't afraid to push buttons and look in menus. So many people stymied by fear of pushing buttons and looking in menus. It's software, not a rare crystal vase ...

I believe it'll be fine, as long as you haven't actually run a sync on your computer... Make sure you tell her in detail about the iTunes interface for syncing, using the tabs across the top of the main part of the window when the device is selected in the sidebar. I find that an amazing amount of people don't even see those tabs, and therefore miss out on the incredibly fine-grained control offered there!
