Is anybody familiar with this item?

It appears to be a NAS. It's cheap and I'm in the market.

I was looking at one from iOmega for $80, but it got a lot of bad reviews.

I did too. Worst case, we're only out $80 + shipping. I hope it works with my Mac-Centric network.

Yeah, some of these NAS devices have quirks that make the difficult to set up or are not Mac-centric, etc.

I don't need a bit-torrent client or any bells and whistles.

Not a bad looking device, it's worth a shot.
