I looked in the history of sites visited on Safari and found many with URLs beginning with -
http://www.ig.gmodules.com. They have something to do with Google Tools. I hadn't purposely visited those sites.
Do you know anything about these sites?

Jimmypoo: Thanks. But I had already found that site. But it doesn't tell me why or how it came to be that my browser had visited that site without my intervention. That's really my question.

I use iGoogle because I have a domain thru them/GoDaddy - and the GoogDocs, etc, so I know how MINE
got there. If you use Google Docs or remain logged in to GMail (with a Google front page), that's another
way (I have both - Gmail & the domain).

Google aggregates data, just like every large company you do business with.
Google happens to do it as well as anyone, and in quantities of data that are almost unimaginable.

MacScan will look for tracking cookies and delete them for you. I had 85 when I ran the check. Not sure if that will stop Googoyle or not.

No, not just like every large company.

No, not as well as anyone.
Google is a the biggest and most aggressive and efficient miner of personal data--your data--in the world. No other company anywhere comes remotely close.
You wouldn't know if that were true or not. You just hate 'em.
