Give me a break.

Yeah.. give me a break..
If we don't like them, they must be silenced! We can't have people we don't like just saying whatever they want, can we?

Seriously folks..
Do you REALLY think that smokers don't KNOW it's bad for them?
I agree with Denis Leary... You could make the pack black, with a skull and crossbones on the package, and call them "Tumors", and no one is going to quit smoking them.

You want to get smokers to quit? Tell them how bad they stink of smoke... Ask them to stand away from you because of the smell on their clothes.

Labels, schmabels... make the tobacco companies pay for the medical treatment and health care for the harm their products cause.
The tobacco companies will then fix a lot of this country's problems in record time.

Accountability = Solution

I am with Buzz, let Big Tobacco pay for the damage it causes, from its huge profits. But what about those affected by second hand smoke, infants, etc. Also let the Federal government use some of their ill gotten gains from the Tobacco trade to help insure those that can't afford health insurance. It would go along way.

I know long term smokers that were finally able to quit after being faced with severe health issues, but their spouses were not able to kick the habit despite it. I think some folks body chemistry is just not able to adapt to quitting.

Alcohol companies can subsidize their detox programs as well as DUI schools, court costs, health related problems, etc.
