I would be ly'in if I told you Lion doesn't break any apps.
I have kept a bootable Snow Leopard just for that purpose.

I think there are still a fair amount of Rosetta apps in use out there and those are definitely broken.

Speaking only for myself of course, I didn't need or want any of my PPC stuff anymore, which made Lion's advantages stronger to me compared to never running the PPC stuff with Snow Leopard.
