I downloaded Cogs, the game which was part of the Humble Bundle a few months ago.
Son plays on wife's Macbook Pro. 2011 model, 13". 10.6.8. Sometimes the computer totally freezes, the mouse still moves, but nothing else can be done. Volume or brightness key do nothing, I tried expose, dashboard, I tried COMMAND+OPTION+ESCAPE, nothing, it's like I am running OS 9. The only way to recover is a forced shutdown. I haven't see anything like this in OS X before. I've had other applications crash, but it's very unusual to take down the whole OS.
Upon restart there is no error message. I check hard drive with Disk Utility, I repaired permission. everything seems to be fine. I still have warranty and plan to get Applecare just to be safe.
I recently added a Bluetooth mouse, I can try to remove that, I am not sure if that is the problem.
BTW, I searched before asking here, but I come across posts related to an audio editor with a similar name, or to reference of the spinning wheel (COG) when you start OS X.
Where do I start troubleshooting? Son likes the game, otherwise I wouldn't bother.
