Ready for more William Henry Harrison, with a little James Garfield thrown in? More 4S photos (bandwith galore)

The pictures are from Piatt Park, on Garfield Place in downtown Cincinnati. I edited the pictures with SuperCamera and ProCamera.

Garfield had the second shortest presidency, right after W.H. Harrison.

Unfortunately, the Occupy Cincinnati movement used Piatt Park and some a--holes from the group defaced the monument, though the city did a pretty good job of restoring the base of the monument. Time should bleach what is left.

The sculptor:

The park was dedicated in 1817:

The only reason I included this picture (the tower is city hall), is that I used the digital zoom function. On my 3Gs, zoom made things pixelated and blurry, but to my eyes, this looks fairly sharp.

No info I could find on the history of this house, but it is across from Piatt Park.

Monument to William Henry Harrison.

Ohio's first President. What is up with Presidents from Ohio? ; )

The filter is called Alien invasion. LOL.

Walking back to my car, I came upon this plaque.

"Read Wrote"... Lol...

Garfield's House is close to where I live. It was lived in by the Garfield family and their descendants (James and Lucretia...) up until about 15 years ago, then donated to the National Parks service. It's well maintained. Our Scout Troop was raking leaves there Saturday morning.... Scouts are great 'free labor' for stuff like that.

His tomb is in Lakeview Cemetery in Cleveland... an amazing building built by the immigrant stonemasons that flooded Cleveland in the late 19th and early 20th century.

I know exactly where you took those pics. It makes me long for the days my wife and I spent in Cincinnati. We thought about getting married at the Plum Street Temple, just down the street. We went to a holiday party at the Cincinnati Club one year. The downtown public library is close by. 5 wonderful years. Thanks for the pics, Bryan.

There is an interesting book about Garfield's assassination - the man was way ahead of his time but tragically cut down by an assassin.

Destiny of the Republic: A Tale of Madness, Medicine and the Murder of a President

Someone likes his 4s a lot.

I've found that besides the basic call functions, the camera is the most useful feature on my model 4. My wife uses the camera, and is using Siri more and more as she remembers it is available.
