Got an iPhone for my 12 year old
#21
If you dont mind paying for the extra line/data -- which is only about $25 on ATT -- 3GS iPhones are free w/contract.

No texting, but for just a cell phone + other stuff, pretty cheap.

Perhaps I'm alone in this, but I have to question whether it's a good idea to be giving a 12 year-old a cell...

I doubt it. I have no problem with it myself. It is also none of my business.

However, I am sure there are plenty of people who wouldn't do it and I bet a lot of them* would be happy to offer self-righteous proclamations that he is a terrible parent and is what is wrong with the country.

*Not trying to imply that your response meant this.

What's next?!? A CAR when the kid gets a license? Hand-picked BRIDE when he's old enough to marry? Genetic Engineering when he wants a kid?

WHERE THE HELL DOES IT END?!?

I know. He is keen on letting me know how much his life sucks for having such a restriction.
