She read 16GB as the suggested size of the SSD (like a hardrive, but faster).
He meant get an SSD (128 GB's or larger) and upgrade the RAM to 16GB. Sorry if you've already sorted this out but after some of my posts on 'the other side" I felt like I needed to resolve some confusion...somewhere! "I'm sure you don't need the full power that this machine can give you but it sure is fun to use. Get an SSD and just throw 16GB in there and it'll be a LONG TIME until you hand it down to your daughter..." ..."can it take a 32 SSD. Not much price diff."

Your MacBook Pro is fine just the way it is. It'll do everything you want as is.

vision63 wrote: Agreed. I have the same model; I upgraded the RAM and left the HD alone. By the time this machine begins to feel slow, I will be able to purchase an SSD comparable in size to the HD the shipped with my MBP (750GB) for a reasonable price - it will be like getting a new machine. |
