His tax rates don't bother me as long as it is legal.

I'm going to go take a shower after typing this but Avenger/Dakota is 100% correct on that point.

The American public is highly hypocritical. They fault candidates for doing exactly what nearly everyone of them would do. to wit - avoid taxes wherever possible and legal.
Interesting conundrum... He seems to be in a position where he has committed federal crimes nomatter which way he jumps.

If, in fact, he was in charge at Bain Capital thru 2002 (or later) then he committed financial reporting fraud punishable by fines and imprisonment.

If, in fact, he was NOT in charge at Bain Capital thru 2002 (or later) then Bain & Company committed financial reporting fraud punishable by fines and imprisonment. And as he was still employed by Bain & Company as a consultant at that time and his signature is on the SEC filings he'd be implicated as a co-conspirator.

So who's responsibility is it to pursue legal action against him?
The SEC is responsible for asking the DOJ to pursue it.

You are intentionally, or perhaps not, trying to confuse the matter. The chart I posted couldn't be simpler to interpret. Take your actual income tax liability and divide it by your gross. With me still? The chart says that the middle quantile pays 3%. I know this is hard to believe but your progressive tax system has worked beyond your wildest dreams.

Thanks. And that obviously won't happen due to the perception of politicking in an election year. However, I hope they let it seem like there =might= be charges filed for a long, long time.

They wouldn't indict Wall Street and Bank manipulators, why should they go after Romney for what, by comparison, is a mere hiccup.

What do you suppose the cutoff is?

If I have $20 million, does that make me immune from criminal prosecution?

Or maybe it's closer to $200 million?

Half a billion?

Here in the US there would seem to be no cutoff point, other countries have taken a different stance and approach. None have the weight to throw behind it we have and we refuse to use.

I think it goes the opposite direction. Like a loaf of bread.

The effective tax rate has been dropping for everyone! Even the highest quintile! So where are all the new jobs? Talk about wild dreams.

The dream of yours I am talking about is 3% tax rate for little people vs. 19% for the one percenters. You will never be satisfied.
