WMP- Flip4Mac
#1
i listen to npr via streaming and i'm trying to set up my laptop to do that just as my desktops do. the links always open in WMP on my desktop.

i've installed Windows Media Player and Flip4Mac (which i've never gotten to work on my desktops but thought i'd give it the old college try.).

the npr program links do not open up anything but a blank tab.

a local npr station's link opens up and plays through quicktime which i think is the doing of Flip4Mac.

i've check setting in Firefox and don't see a place for setting prefs for these types of links.

any suggestions for getting the npr program links to play?

This link opened for me. I am using Safari and Flip4Mac.

Wierd, I happen to be viewing the forum right now on my windoze box and clicked that link. Widnows Media Player installer popped up to install wmp 9. I've had windows installed on here for a lot of months. I gues sI've never opened a windows media file with it. The link opened right up though and started playing the radio. Thanks for the link...

okay, i just tried the npr links in safari. a window with, i guess, quicktime opened up but it's running stop and start.

this is very frustrating.

update: i uninstalled Flip4Mac. WMP now opens and plays with the npr intro but stays on Connecting...

I'd suggest downloading appzapper and getting rid of flip4mac My experience is that it sucks.

fortunately, Flip4Mac does come with an uninstaller.

WMP did finally play the program though it took about 4 minutes to load. usually takes 8 secs on my desktops.

Bernie's link opened for me with safari and flip4mac. It doesn't really stream, but it sort of just loads. I've not really had any probs with flip4mac. kj.

Plays no problem (10.4.6, Safari and Flip4Mac). Also saves out successfully as a 1.6mb QuickTime movie.

Using Camino (with WMP installed on the hard drive) on 10.3.9, I clicked on the link Bernie provided and WMP started up almost immediately and began to play within a few seconds (and played through to the end).
