Question for all you cell phone gurus
#1
Finally switched away from Nextel to Verizon. Picked up a Motorola E815 as my phone and had a few questions.

1. Can I somehow sync this with my mac at all?
(Phone #'s, addresses, etc.)

2. If not, how do I hook this puppy up to add ringtones, etc? Been looking for a driver/software, but no luck.

3. I see a lot of talk about modifying the "seem" to hack into the phone, but doing so voids your warranty? Can anyone explain why or care to elaborate on this?

*BTW - I've got a genuine motorola USB data cable with the charger port from my old Nextel phone.

Thanks in advance for any help. Just not really "cell-phone" geeked out...yet.

My understanding is that that phone is iSync friendly, but I don't own it and don't know details.

Apple thinks it's compatible with iSync.

Damn, why isn't Samsung on this list? I just bought the A900 last weekend.

Thanks for that link MGS, unfortunately for me when I plug the USB cable into the Mac and phone, nothing happens. I'm sure there must be a driver out there I just haven't been able to find it.

Eh, sorry no bluetooth on my MDD. Might have to look into getting a dongle, eh? I'm just wondering if I can upload rigntones & music via bluetooth? I've been reading a lot of confusion about Verizon's software kind of cripples the phone. Again, just hoping someone out there has already done this or done something similar.

I bought two BT2, Class1 dongles at a Geeks sale a few weeks ago, two for $15.00.
Here is one for 9 bucks!:

BT2 = Faster than BT1.
Class1 = 333 foot range.

I believe the E815 is crippled, at least before SEEM editing.

You need a PC for SEEM editing.

There's no way you can do transfers over the cable(FIle), but you may be able to iSync over the cable.

And don't try for a non-crippled phone from Verizon. There aren't any.
