looking to buy a garmin edge 500 and concerned about warranty

i'm looking to buy a garmin edge 500 for my bike. with the heart rate monitor and cadence sensor its about $370.

arg. i'm a cheapskate.

i can find better deals online but i'm concerned about warranty. garmin claims that they require a copy of a receipt for warranty work. i suspect this rules out ebay.

is anyone familiar with the garmin warranty process? or where to find a deal on this guy?

It doesn't rule out eBay, it rules out eBay sellers who are not Garmin-authorized dealers.

Refurb from an authorized dealer?

I ended up buying from REI since i'd at least get good service and a local place to return it.
