Discounted iPad 3 or used 11" Macbook Air as secondary device

Many of us already have mobile data plans, so the appeal of yet another bill isn't as compelling for me as people otherwise without mobile data. I have a hotspot (bundled with my home internet) and a separate mobile data option is bundled with my phone plan (you can't disable mobile data, the plan included unlimited calling, unlimited SMS/MMS, and at least 5GB of full speed data each month). I really don't need yet another data bill.

It was better, but not good enough, in my opinion, to serve as a full substitute. I actually went back to typing with the iPad keyboard because the iPad plus external setup felt too much like a kludge and only solved the most basic problems.
Yes, as a matter of fact I only did this once. It was useful but not something I'd do everyday. In fact when I see a tablet being used with an external keyboard, all I see is a reason to get a MacBook Air or Ultrabook.
