Ted Cruz to speak in Tyler TX Apr 6 !
#1
Excited, Ted Cruz is coming to Tyler Tx and speak at the President's Annual Dinner and silent auction. It has just been announced and people are beating down the door to attend. I'm certainly looking forward to it altho I heard his speak a couple of times before he was elected Senator.

He's a very smart guy and has excellent debating skills. I expect he will be quite loquacious in the way he expresses that which is expected by Tea Party norms.

I doubt there will be much of substance about matters of fact and/or values that I would agree with him about, though.

I'm so excited for you. Be sure to ask him about Benghazi.

And ask him if he knows the entire 2nd Amendment, not just the last part.

The guy who called said this of two decorated veterans
"We've got two pending nominations: John Kerry and Chuck Hagel. Both of whom are very prominently less than ardent fans of the U.S. Military."

Thats a "smart guy"?

I suspect Sam a bit too smart to fall for the rhetoric but probably likes the idea of someone who'll rile and defame the opposition while whipping up support for her side.

Smart guys know their audience and you and I are not the audience he was speaking to. He's in a "building cred with the Tea Partiers" phase.

He is intelligent for sure* (went to Princeton, graduated with honors and for awhile was a professor of Constitutional law). But he is an ideologue and that can make a person really myopic in spite of their intelligence. (See John Yoo).

Didn't say or imply that you did, but the Tea Party is the main audience Cruz is aiming at with his rhetoric. That's what you are mostly going to hear at the dinner.

Cruz speaks to Conservatives by whatever moniker you attach to them. He can never run for president or be vice prez, however. Not native born.
