America’s Most Wanted, the long running crime-fighting show that helped to catch hundreds of fugitives, has been canceled for a second time after low viewing figures suggest the public no longer watch it.

Over 25 years, John Walsh's criminal tracking series, which was picked up by Lifetime after the ax fell at Fox in 2011, has now been cancelled again.

According to the Daily Mail, the show picked up just 800,000 viewers when the last series aired five and a half months ago.

I was thinking that this mush have been an article about Sheriff Joe being knocked off by a random gun nut...

I can't imagine living in his shoes after losing a son as he did.

The times I've watched the show I've found it plodding. Can never last through the commercial break after which all kinds of titillating things are promised to be revealed. I'd have to be fascinated by crime to stay engaged, which I'm not.
I'd call this a victim of just not being good enough.

No, that's America's most laughable crime-fighter.

I think that show was replaced in viewers' hearts by more local efforts on the Internet. There are quite a few community groups in Baltimore that post mug shots and encourage people to call the cops if the perps are seen. It works very well.

Personally, I'm outraged. "America's Most Wanted" is as American as a juicy hamburger.

I never watched the show, and in fact I kind of thought it was already off the air. But I admire him for getting out there and trying to turn his tragedy into something positive.
