A MDD Dual 1.25 GHz with a IDE/ATA 120GB Mercury Legacy Pro SSD might almost be tolerable.

Why stop there?... Get a 1.8 GHz DP upgrade card, and max the video card, too. :-)

For OS 9? That's all a bit of overkill, me thinks. Smile

Many apps in OS 9 failed to take advantage of multiple processors. 1GB RAM, pretty much any G4, and a video card specced for Quartz Extreme (yes, I know that's for OS X, but just a baseline) is likely fine for most people. Depending on res of the display of course.

eMac G4 800Mhz will boot OS 9.

Anything with USB 1 is a big downer though.

That's the truth!

If I may be so bold, time for a mild whine. Apple should have specced their all-in-one's with at least one cardbus slot. Later upgrading to USB 2.0 would have been a piece of cake. Then again, wasn't that the point. Overly modest specs causes more frequent hardware upgrades, which is good for Apple. All assuming the customer base is otherewise satisfied.
