Fact: People are living longer than ever before in the history of the world...

You don't suppose that this might have some influence on the overall population growth do ya???

How about instead of trying to bring about a net decline in population we engineer a human 2.0 that is physically smaller and less resource intensive? If we gave everyone's childrens dwarfism genes we'd have an overall physically smaller population of people that would need a quarter of the area and an eight of the volume. Likewise this new people should use a fraction of the resources - smaller cars, smaller houses... and your iPhone would now look like a tablet!

Untrue. The average age of people has not increased.

What is true is that a far greater percentage of the population survives long enough to have kids due to vaccines.

On the other side of the coin, those who do choose to have kids have far fewer children than they would have in the past due to economic concerns. In the modern world, a child is more of a financial liability than an asset. Why have 15 kids if you don't need them to work the fields?
