Seems strange how it wasn't the engine that went off first, although maybe that is the locomotive equivalent of fishtailing?

Engine would be heavier; perhaps lower center of gravity, and thus less likely to tip critically going too-fast around corner.

it looks like there is virtually no banking in that curve. I would expect some banking on a tight curve like that on a high speed line

50mph speed limit supposedly, as it is a shared track and not a high speed section of track.
