Massive AppleTV update today

Go to software update on your AppleTV. Mine took about 15 to 20 minutes to complete the update.

iTunes Radio, iTunes Match, airplay from the cloud, etc.

And it never will be one. Needs a tuner which they have never had. There was supposed to be a DVR attachment for the PS3. The company that announced that they were working on one never made a peep about it again after the first announcement. They want you to buy all your content through. their. store.

On another website I read about a lot of ATV's being bricked by the update so I'm going to wait and see how it goes for all of you. :-)

Yeah, it messed mine up earlier. Now I need a micro-USB cable to see if I can restore it in iTunes. I'll see if I can hunt one down tomorrow.

I was hoping it would be a hardware update. I haven't checked stats lately, but over a third of US households have DVRs. There's still tons of content that's not for sale any other way.

Apple TV updates bricking units until iTunes restore isn't very common, is it? Seems pretty bad when jailbreaking is safer than canonical updates from Apple.

Sorry guys, my update went smoothly, other than it taking 20 mins or so. Didn't realize others were having issues with bricking.
