On Friday, the airbag service light came on on our 2012 Honda Odyssey. This van was bought 5 months ago and has 5000 miles on. It has a wheelchair conversion for my daughter that was done in Arizona by the ramp manufacturer before we bought it.
I took it to a Honda dealer yesterday. It is not the closest dealer, but they were the ones who could get me in on a Saturday. They charged me a $55 diagnostic fee and found it to be a short in one of the wires in the driver's side buckle harness. It was evidently not fully plugged in, and they blamed it on the wheelchair conversion (which was done over a year ago). So, they kept my van for 6 hours to plug it back in. I also paid $30 for a rental car.
Of course, this afternoon, the light came back on. i'm going to call them first thing in the morning, but am curious if they are going to charge me another diagnostic or any other fee? They claimed they need to charge me this b/c of the wheelchair conversion. Both the van and wheelchair conversion have 36 month warranties.
This Honda dealer is pretty far away, so I'll need to get another rental if they are going to keep it again. I plan on asking for a loaner since this is their second go around, and they didn't fix it yesterday.
