Just give them a couple hundred thousand to end the pledge drive! That just encourages the bastards. I should note that I was once a supporter, and I still have the scraps of the tie-dyed Monty Python tee-shirt, and the QED Monster tote bags to keep them in, to prove it. PBS itself is still vibrant; they produce excellent programs, like "Frontline" and the recent superb "Silent Night" opera. But to pay the bills, they also produce the infomercial garbage that KQED delights in showing over, and over, and over again. (KQED-FM is another matter entirely; they still have some integrity. But it's only a matter of time; look at what happened to KDFC and KCSM.) Enough of this- I've had my say, and those of you who still have access to a local Educational Television station with real programming, ("Check, Please! Bay Area" sucks.), should count your blessings, while there are still blessings to be counted. Eustace |
