Today is my daughter Lily's first day of kindergarten. I took off part of the morning to accompany her, my wife, and son to her new school. We got to meet her teachers, the school nurse, and some of her therapists who will help her out.
Some of you know her story, but in a nutshell, she has a lot of developmental delays. After she was born, we were told by the geneticist that other children with her condition do not live past one year of age.
She is now 5 years old, doing great, and starting school. I could not be more proud of her.
I just wanted to share this with my friends here.

How wonderful. Thanks for sharing.
We register my 5 year old on Tuesday. She starts kindergarten in a couple of weeks.
I got a bit misty as we were buying her school supplies, Sunday.

Also, congratulations! This is a big first step for Lily and for you. Very good to hear, and thanks for sharing!
My oldest begins senior year at McGill and my youngest enters 5th grade.
The middle two will be a high school senior and 8th grade, respectively.
Wow, the time flies. Someone, somewhere, must be having fun!

God bless, DavidS. I wish you guys the best.
However, what's up with starting school the first week in August? My wife doesn't start her teaching gig at our local public HS until after Labor Day. Then again, she is stuck in school until late August...

DavidS,
Sounds like you've got a little fighter in your family (and I mean that in the best way), beating the odds like it seems she has. Congratulations, the both of you!!

some of you have schools starting way too early. You must have lots of random days off in your school year, so the early start, and late end of the year are necessary to make up the mandated 180 day school year.
I hope Lily does well away from home!
