If I were the CEO of Dell, I would close the doors and return the money to the stockholders, since they are WAY more important to me than the customers. -- Michael DLL

Not to get picky, but they are recalling 4.1 million batteries ... at least according to this story.

Yes, I tried to edit but it wouldn't edit....and it was within seconds of posting.....for some reason. .I did try to correct.

Also...it could lead to no computers on airplanes...it is the Lithium battery not DELL as a company. I think Apple has had problems...in fact all companies with the Lithium battery.

In fairness to Dell as mentioned the Lithium battery is supplied by Sony and the story just aired on CNN mentioned several other manufacturers using the same battery, including Lenovo, HP, Compaq and others. It remains to be seen if there is something peculiar about the way Dell units interact with the battery or if the other manufacturers may also have to issue recalls to limit their liability which in this case could be catastrophic.

I still don't see anywhere that says that. And it's not lithium (ion) batteries in general, but specific models of them.

Didn't Sony also manufacture the lithium battery in the infamous PowerBook 5300?

The NBC Nightly News version of the report also mentioned Sony selling batteries to Apple Computer as well as those noted above.
