Time Machine and different computers
#1
So about a year ago my MBP conked out because the battery decided to get all puffy on me so I switched it up for a newer version. Well, I continued my backups with the drive I have been using for the previous computer. I needed to pull something from a couple years ago and noticed all backups from the old computer are now unaccessible. I do not have permissions to go into them. What is the best solution at this point to pull that info? Do I need to find a replacement battery and hope the computer boots up? Even if I did that how would I be able to get all those folders to be used on the new computer when I connect the backup drive? Is there another solution? Thanks.

Do these newer laptops no longer boot with just the power cord attached (i.e. no battery)?

Not sure if it is what you want to do but you access a different time machine backup by clicking on opt and TM icon. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1702971
