Looking for discontinued Lego set 5378
#1
Friends of mine is looking for a Lego Hogwarts Castle set 5378. It was discontinued a few years ago. They can be found on eBay for $700 but they're hoping to spend only half that. Any ideas on where to look? TIA

Have you checked here?

Most don't have box and shipping from another country might kill it...

Or get all the parts separately and put it together from scratch:

There's a couple on eBay for $400 at the moment. You might just watch eBay for awhile and see what comes up. Or make an offer. What have they been really selling for there? Buy-it-Nows are sometimes inflated to catch suckers, but you probably realize that.

I'm so frustrated with and disappointed in Lego about this. Maybe it's always been this way - that they've always had sets that were released for a period of time before being phased out for newer, different sets. But with all their branded/licensed sets of late, it puts parents in a terrible bind when little Jenny really wants that Hogwarts set. You can't buy it new, it's considered a collector's item so buying it used will cost an arm and a leg... It'd be great if Lego considered this and produced an annual stream of some of these most preferred legacy sets (they could even differentiate them slightly from the original collector's items so that the collectors would retain value.)
