Black Friday "jumped the shark" once it achieved "event" status.
I'm wondering when the idiocy surrounding Super Bowl ads will subside. I will grant the ad industry and NFL props though, for getting people excited about watching and talking about ads, and not even during the game itself.

The Accounting Dept. has determined that because it's a big shopping day, it must be made ever-bigger, even if that means canabalizing current sales and even if Nov. sales remain the same overall. That Day must look good in order for "it" (whatever "it" now is) to be deemed a success.

The companies finally realized that instead of sending takedown notices to the sites sharing their advertisements that they were getting more exposure for free and should actually encourage it.
