Teen attempts to kill self by crashing car, survives but kills 2 people instead.

Just read the whole article. Sounds like she really wanted company for her exit from life. The other person in the "pact" was lucky that they didn't manage to hook up to get their drugs and crash the car together. Depression at any age is bad news, but at 16, with poor impulse control, raging hormones, etc., there isn't not much likelihood that a depressed kid will make good choices.

I'd be ok with 20 years in prison, with pictures of her victims in her cell.

Not me.

Tried as an adult, I'd want to see her sentenced to life without the possibility of parole (although that truly doesn't exist).

I believe in capital punishment, but that would never happen in this case, assuming it's even an option.

It's tragic, anyway you look at it.

She couldn't have slammed into a concrete structure instead?

It's not at all uncommon for someone who's suicidal to become homicidal in the process.

I was thinking more an ACTUAL 20 years, which would mean a life sentence... Most of which average out to 20-25 years. But I could get on board with an actual life sentence...
And yes, tragic, any way you cut it...

Now she has even less reason to live. Hopefully she can get help and find peace with herself.
