Last October, VP Pence walked out of an NFL game between the Colts and 49'ers after some players took a knee during the national anthem. the full cost in excess of $325,000, a figure that does not include local security and emergency-response overtime costs. The price includes the cost to fly Air Force 2 to and from the game ($250k), the cost of security including lodging for his security detail ($75k).
Some records seem to indicate that Pence’s walkout was anything but a spontaneous demonstration of patriotic outrage. In one instance rented security walkways were scheduled for pickup prior to the end of the game.
So, $325,000 for a publicity stunt to make the base happy.
