Magnetic USB-C/Thunderbolt Charging
#1
Does anyone have any experience with any of the Magnetic USB-C charging adapters that are out there? I was hoping OWC made one, but no such luck.

Here is an example:

https://www.amazon.com/MAGNITTO-Adapter-..._9?ie=UTF8&qid=1546479325&sr=8-9&keywords=USB+C+Magnetic

I just got a MacBook Pro turned in to me from an exiting employee and both the USB-C ports are very loose. I'm a bit worried that the port isn't durable with repeated use. This guy was constantly using adapters and charging so it is a high use port. I'm sending this one off for warranty replacement, but I'd like to get in front of this problem if I can.

I have one like that. Connects fine, but my 15-inch MBP will only pull 45w from it even though the cable is supposed to be certified for 87w. Only good for trickle-charging while it sleeps.

I have one, works fine with my 13" MBPR. But it's no longer sold on Amazon, so the link you posted looks a lot like the one I purchased.

I was looking at these today and read a terrifying review where someone claimed it fried their power adapter, since the pins are always active and if it snaps on incorrectly it means the ring and pins might connect and send voltage places it’s not supposed to be. But who knows how accurate that is.

I use the Vinpok Bolt with my 2017 MBP (87W). Although the magnetic link is broken with minor movements of the computer (making true laptop use difficult), overall I'm quite satisfied. Charging seems quite fast, even when I'm using the computer. It's power only, not data.

NOTE: Their website states that the Bolt is not compatible with the 2018 MBP.
