"I am the chosen one," Trump said.
Yup, he said it today.
full quote:
"Somebody had to do it. I am the chosen one,” Trump continued, glancing over his shoulder to gaze at the sky. “Somebody had to do it, so I took on China. I took on China on trade, and you know what? We’re winning.”
hmm, not much better, really.

If tRump were Joe Citizen, I wonder how many, ‘friendly’ conversations he would have had with the FBI by now, and how thick his file would be?

Judas was chosen. It's not necessarily a good thing to be the guy who starts Armageddon, even if Armageddon has a happy ending.

...But (deep sigh) back to the anti-Semitism for a moment. By clarifying his earlier remarks that Jewish Democrats are not simply disloyal—to whom, he hadn’t previously said—but in fact disloyal to Israel, Trump has not only affirmed the pernicious idea of Jewish dual loyalty, but has elevated it to the point of claiming that his idea of a bad Jew is one who doesn’t have enough dual loyalty. In doing so, Trump has essentially given the green light to his followers to divide Jewish Americans into two categories: a minority who are “loyal” (both to him and to a foreign power where he believes their true loyalties lie), and the rest—the vast, vast majority of American Jews, in fact—who are traitors to his deranged concept of what Judaism actually is and therefore deserving of his brand of anti-Semitism.
This is, it should go without saying, not only deeply bigoted, but profoundly dangerous for the bulk of American Jews, some of whom pathetically attempted to explain away Trump’s previous remarks yesterday by claiming he was only speaking about communal and religious cohesion. Well, joke’s on you, dummies!
Let me be extremely clear here: President Donald Trump is an anti-Semite who is incapable of seeing Jewish Americans as actual Americans. He is weaponizing his anti-Semitism for personal political gains, and seemingly has no concerns about what that might lead to. And as bad as that all is, it’s hard to see things getting better anytime soon. So buckle up, folks. It’s gonna be a bumpy, racist ride.

His behavior is an amplification of conservatism's long-held stance that criticism of Israel is not permissible. Isreal must always possess victim status no matter what.
Fundamentalist Christians, who couldn't care less about Jews, fawn over the country because they put it on a pedestal of ideal religious perfection: a country literally founded for the benefit of one religion. Modern American Christians have been seeking the same thing here ever since. They have enough examples in the Bible of Jewish persecution that they allow themselves to be "victimized" whenever there's some slight against Christians.
That dogma alone is sufficient for American Christians to distrust Muslims, regardless of what they do.

’I’m 99.9% Jewish’ proclaims Wayne Allyn Root, the conspiracy nut who called Trump ‘second coming of God’
By Dave Goldiner

The evangelical Christian conspiracy nut who dubbed President Trump the “second coming of God" and the “king of Israel” says he has every right to tell Jews what to think — because he is Jewish by birth himself.
Hours after Wayne Allyn Root went off on an offensive praise-singing rant about Trump, right-wing radio host claimed that his Jewish roots make him the perfect oracle for the chosen people.
“I’m from two Jewish parents, four Jewish grandparents ... (I’m) Jewish as you get,” said Root. touting what he said were the results of a DNA test. “I am 100% Jewish....or 99.9% Jewish, they couldn’t identify the other .1%.”
Trump on Thursday approvingly retweeted Root’s follow-up to his outrageous Biblical claim that Trump has the right to call Jews “disloyal” for voting Democratic.
He made the claim on his NewsMaxTV show that is known for amplifying conspiracy theories like the racist birther hoax about President Obama and the bizarro claim that the deadly white nationalist violence at Charlottesville was staged by Democratic megadonor George Soros.
“So all I can tell you is I speak from the heart,” Root said. “I’m looking to help the Jewish people. I’m looking to help my beloved Israel. I’m looking to help my even more beloved America.”
“We’ve got to get away from the Democrats. They’re no good for us,” he added.
Root’s claim that he is really Jewish despite embracing Jesus Christ is sure to raise even more hackles among Jews, even those who are not Democrats or strong supporters of Israel or both. Mainstream Jews reject so-called Messianic Jews, popularly identified with the Jews for Jesus sect, in part because they appropriate Jewish symbols and practice.
Root’s use of the term “second coming of God” in reference to Trump, which the president enthusiastically retweeted, is especially offensive to many Jews, who do not believe like Christians that Jesus was the son of God or that he will return to save humanity at some point.
Trump makes no secret that he shares the frustration of conservative evangelical Christians with the large majority of American Jews who oppose him and continue to support Democrats.
The president has twice this week called American Jews “disloyal” to Israel for not rallying behind him, statements that were denounced by the watchdog Anti-Defamation League as anti-Semitic.

Last I heard, it’s possible to “switch” religions if ya want. Each religion has their process for conversion and acceptance but as far as I’m aware it doesn’t involve a blood transfusion.
Very convenient for a guy like Root to be “Jewish” when it suits him and “Christian” at other times.

I think it plays off of the ambiguity of the term "Jewish". There's progeny that have commonly accepted significant genealogical roots in tribes in ancient Israel that are referred to as "Jewish". And then there is the religion of Judaism whose adherents are also referred to as "Jewish". Many people are Jewish under both meanings of the term, but there are also many people who have Jewish genealogy but are secular and many that are not genealogically Jewish but are accepted as adherents of Judaism and are in that sense Jewish.
