Just got an message from at&t about the impending PG&E Power Cut

Anybody affected by the power cut won't be charged for 'any talk/test/data overages from 1200hrs Oct. 9 through 1159hrs oct 13.

I appreciate the gesture, as I won't be in any fire danger but 'disaster relief' is a bit much.

FYI: Even new cell tower batteries seldom last more than 6 hours during a blackout.

Yep, it'll be interesting to see if cell companies can keep the gensets they're supposed to have there at the cell towers supplied with fuel during what will probably end up being a week-long outage.

Our power just came back on after being shut off for about 18 hours. There were definitely no working cell towers in our area today, at least for Verizon and AT&T.

Mine is back on too. Sprint kept working though. Glenview/Trestle Glen Oakland area.
