Do I keep it or sell it? The BIL, who is my financial advisor says that selling it won’t make much of a statement to the company.

If you want your investing to make a statement, consider buying funds that are designed to avoid ethically yucky projects and companies. That's how corporations get the message about socially responsible investing - not at the level of the individual retirement investor.
