Never hurts to stock up on essentials while supplies are good
#21
I was envisioning extra drinking water as a contingency of disruption of service due to the treatment plant going offline if employees cannot make it to work. Will there be crews available to fix a water main should it burst during a disease outbreak? A recent water main break a few months ago that I was reading about caused 4-5 days of boil advisory. The crew had a temporary solution but It was almost a whole week before a new properly fitting pipe replacement could be shipped from Texas to the east coast. Will freight be shipping of there are quarantine zones? Would there mane repair crews willing to work? It is tough to guess what decisions will need to be made and how long it will take to pan out.

Anything beyond a few days to a week without potable water services would require a much higher level of preparation.

An acquaintance that recently left China said panic buying was not a pleasant experience. He was in a large city and supplies ran out quickly once stores were not getting resupplied and Store workers weren’t showing up to work. A store he did find open had some hostile people and low food supplies.

I am not saying the sky is falling. I just want to point out that disruptions can easily happen to a community. I would advise people to be prudent and make their own rational judgments on what their needs might be.

Living where I'm living, potable water can be gone with just a severe thunderstorm or water main break.

Do not assume anything, people.
