Epsons INTENTION was that the average user would do maybe a hundred in the average lifespan of a consumer inkjet printer. Then there are people like us, where 100 in one session is ordinary.

FYI: CUSA has the new R260 model on sale this week for $80. Take the flier to CC and you'll get another $5 off that. $75 is a great deal when you consider you get the new brighter "Claria" photo inks included. Beats buying someone elses old machine.

All your comments sound good. I can get this NEW R200 from a local individual for $30. Thought I might do it just for printing CDs.

I have 3 of them. All have evidenced the tray problem, work around is to "help" it in - PITA but it works. I use aftermarket ink and one of them hhas a clogged head that I haven't been able to clear. For the price, and since they're really the only cheap game in town - they are OK.

An small addition to my original comments -

I am actually on my second printer. The first one had a firmware problem (I assume)
after about 2 weeks of use the print head carriage would go back and forth and never park
to the printing position and there was a status light that stayed on.

I called Epson support and they had me check a couple things (that I already had checked)
and after confirming that it was indeed a printer problem and not operator error
they sent me a new printer overnight and a return tag for the old one.

My"new" printer has printed as many as 100 CD's in a day or a couple hundred a week
and I have not had any problems with it other than the minor annoyance of the CD holder
not always catching the first time.

I would by it for $30 - no question. It's not perfect but it's pretty darn good.

I agree with olnacl... if Ihelp the tray in when it goes to feed, mine works fine. I also have to help it out.

I bought a replacement tray, but it did no better.

There is an option to Epson for CD printing. You can print on CDs with certain Canon printers. But you have to

1. remove a panel from the printer (exposing the CD slot) ,
2. buy an aftermarket tray, and
3. activate the CD printing function in firmware with a few button combinations.

I've done this. My son has a 5200 at school. Works great.
