On a lighter topic, how do you all like to wake up? I like to have my wake up alarm with a charging rock song like "Road Runner" or the like. My wife wakes up slowwwwwwwllllly and wants something soft.
She did say that the one time I had surgery and she was waiting for me to wake up, I went from out to 100%, my eyes flashed open and I had small jerk reaction (painful after surgery).

Never needed an alarm, I wake up at 5 AM regardless of when I go to sleep. Ten seconds later my feet are on the floor and I'm walking away from the bed.
my wife? She sets the alarm just as a reminder to change to an hour or two later.

It depends. But my favorite way to wake up is to have someone come in with a wet, warm, soft washcloth and gently wipe my face.

I only was able to jump out of bed ahead of the alarm going off before I hit age 32, and only if I had been getting at least 7-1/2 hours of sleep for a couple of weeks straight. If I don't have a reason to get out of bed in the last few years, it can take me 3 hours before I decide if it is futile to try to get more sleep.

Sleeping is one of my favorite hobbies...why would I want to get up?

Too often I'll wake up an hour or hour and a half before I've gotten at least seven hours of sleep. So I try to go back to sleep. About three fourths of the time I do go back to sleep and wake up having gotten pretty close to seven hours of sleep. Sometimes I just lay there more awake than asleep but resting the best I can. But on the times I do wake up knowing it's a good time to get going, I'm up and getting dressed fairly quickly and then off to let my dog out and get him some breakfast and feed myself. Then off to play ball at the dog park for an hour or so.
