So, I got a nice shiny iPod for Christmas! A top-of-the-line Black 80GB iPod Video. Complete with a gift receipt! It was something I had almost purchased for myself a month ago, until I remembered that the MacWorld Expo was just around the corner.
And that the iPod was sort of due for an update!
Question: would YOU rip off the wrapper, open the box and start filling your iPod with iTunes right away? Or would you tough it out for a couple of weeks, hiding the box out of sight (and out of mind), to see if Apple wows us with a NEW AND IMPROVED iPod at the MacWorld Expo?
Side note: the gift came from someone who would never be offended at a gift exchange. This is more of a patience issue.

I got some money & certificates for this very thing and I'm waiting 10 days, 00 hours, and 09 minutes before I order anything. So I have to disagree with JDC on this one. An 80 GB iPod would be a nice switch-up for me from my 40 GB, but I'm going to wait and see what January 8 has to offer. Even if it's something I don't really want (I'm not all that hip on a full-screen iPod) the 80GB one will come down in cost.

LOL -- sorry -- missed the sarcasm tags again =)
nothing until after MWSF on anything -- but to be honest -- most every mac product is near the middle of their cycle... except for maybe the mini -- but i dont expect that upgrade until february

While I'd bet money there will be no new iPod at or mentioned at MW, there's no way I'd buy a Mac product now, unless I'd loose hundreds of dollars a day by not doing so.

Loose?
What's loose about the iPods? I thought they were built to tight specs.
I'd hate to lose a piece of my new iPod just because it was loose.

No, I'm talking about letting hundreds of dollars loose, because I couldn't corral them, not having new iron.
As long as I can keep a tight reign on 'em, then I'm not buying nada until MWSF.
See ya'll there!

The way iPods sell on eBay; you could use the iPod for a couple of weeks and sell it and break even.
