Clear log files?
#1
Where are the log files stored in OS X? I left my computer on and playing music from iTunes while I was on vacation and when I came back it said that the start-up disk was full. Not good. I'm trying to delete stuff, but it is slow going. I think that some log files may have run out of control and need to be manually cleaned. Any help is appreciated.

Try "Disk Inventory X" It will show you where all your big files are.

The problem is I can't install anything. I need to get rid of something before I can install anything.

You can run DI X from another volume or look in ~/Library/Logs, /Library/Logs or /var/log
