I have my mac of course and I have a ps2. So I'd prefer to stay on one of those platforms if possible. Thanks,
Dave

Well, how many hours of your life are you looking to throw away on this new 'car racing' adventure?
If you have a PS 2 I would say go out and buy a copy of Gran Turismo 2 or 3, which has been arguably the best driving simulator series to date. This is nothing like MarioKart however, much more realistic, basically you race to win money to upgrade your cars to race to win more money... There are some 'endurance races' where you literally drive for hours to win.

Does anyone play car racing games online? When you say "play games online" do you mean "on a computer" or do you mean "on the Internet"? On a computer is relatively easy to satisfy. I don't know about on the Internet. [quote mikebw]If you have a PS 2 I would say go out and buy a copy of Gran Turismo 2 or 3, which has been arguably the best driving simulator series to date. I recommend Gran Turismo 4 too. If you want to race against a friend, you can run two players with one console (split screen). Or you can race up to 6 players simultaneously if each has their own console and the boxes are networked together. If you find the GT games appealing, you will want to get a dedicated controller with a steering wheel and foot pedals to get the most out of them.

"Cars", based on the Pixar movie is a kind of fun driving game. The full version has lots of activities in addition to the driving.

Redline looks cool. I downloaded the demo but haven't had a chance to play it yet. http://www.ambrosiasw.com/games/redline/
Mario Cart for the Nintendo DS Lite does indeed rock.

Redline is a blast - works on my old 700 MHz G3 iBook and quicker G4. Lap times are automatically posted on the web and it supports network play (though I haven't tried it myself). There are quite a few add-on tracks and cars you can download also.
