I can see Merck's point, given the numbers. But they are also the company that ended up taking their Cox-2 inhibitor Vioxx (the only drug competing with Celebrex) off the market because they were not clear about the risks.

That move took money directly away from me—I was freelancing for my former fulltime employer, and we were doing lots of studies on those drugs. Once Vioxx was pulled, a bunch of studies got canceled. Bad news for me and the coworkers.
