Not just my lowly opinion. The shift is on. This may be a win for you looking to scoop up less loved SLR gear or sell your SLR stuff now while it is worth something.

In 2020, not only did mirrorless make an appearance, it took top honors: The a6000 was KEH’s top-selling camera of that year.
“It takes a huge volume of sales to get to the top of our list, so it’s clear that there’s a tremendous amount of Sony a6000’s circulating out there to feed both supply and demand,” the company writes. “Additionally, we’ve seen that the Sony E-mount in general, is a camera system that many are actively seeking and selecting as their first foray into interchangeable-lens photography, or as an upgrade from a previous generation DSLR.”
As noted by CIPA in recent years, DSLRs may sell in large numbers still, but they do not command the value that mirrorless cameras do. KEH is starting to see that trend affect the used market now, as it reports that revenue from DSLR bodies shrunk by 6% in 2020, while mirrorless bodies saw a jump of 91%.

Only thing is, for a new platform experiencing rapid development --- which mirrorless still is --- something like the a6000 is a dinosaur of usability compared to much-older DSLRS, even though it can do some things they cannot. That facet tends to get lost on new buyers because it requires context.
For mirrorless, it almost makes no sense to buy one that's 2 years or older, whereas for a DSLR, it really doesn't matter a heck of a lot.
Again, the differences are highlighted by video or AF performance, because those are the shining stars of what mirrorless offers.

My niece has a good eye for composure and produces fantastic images with her phone. I'm talking kid pix I could never capture with my DSLR years ago. She wanted to step up and asked my advice ... but had already decided on two cameras (Rebel t7 or t7i, or maybe the M50).
That meant that my comment, "Well, if you're looking at APS-C you might want to consider Fuji, who does superb things in that format ... " went nowhere LOL.
She bought the M50 and kit lens. A good start, and "luckily" one to easily grow into given that there's hardly any native lenses for it! (I still maintain Canon APS-C is a dead end, because they really only care about RF lenses, not EF-M.)

I’m not sure I’d agree that it makes no sense to buy an a6000 today. I bought mine in 2017 for $598 with the kit lens and am still using it. I bought it back then because I wanted a decent camera that was light and small for a trip to Spain. I also wanted an inexpensive camera in case it was stolen or lost and it really did a great job for me. People wanting Sony and buying this camera generally don’t have the money for the a6400 at $1k or the a6600 at $1200. While it doesn’t have the video improvements and AF upgrades for the money it’s still a solid camera.
