I use Ubiquiti switches, but not their Cloud services or their routers...
This is why I dislike "cloud based" networking services and accounts.

Never liked that company.

The cloud-management aspect is an expensive and often troublesome boondoggle even without them handing over everyone's credentials and opening doors in their WiFi networks and allowing hackers to send fake firmware updates that turn all of the routers into bitcoin miners and Russian porn farms.

Having to log into a portal and wait for it to push changes to a device that's sitting a foot away from you in your home... It's ridiculous. Making you pay for cr@p like that on an expensive subscription is insulting.

I've really enjoyed using ubiquiti hardware but tying it into cloud services NEVER made sense to me.

We all knew this was going to happen. Hopefully everyone was using 2FA

I'm not a big fan of cloud-based services either, Paul, and I say that as a reseller of such services.

All HP/Aruba at work, but I was considering Ubiquity for at home. Still might.

I really dislike the subscription model for infrastructure hardware for two reasons:

1. I don't want to lose control of my network because I don't have funds or get a really expensive renewal.

2. I have never had a subscription model service come in cheaper over the expected life of the device vs buying outright.

To be crystal clear;
I use more than a dozen Ubiquiti UniFi switches, and their locally installed Controller software. It works brilliantly, especially for a non-specialist tech like me who is not all that network savvy.

I do not NEED to use their cloud services for anything. If I wanted to manage my network from anywhere in the world, I believe I would... but, I don't. So I use their local controller, and it's a great system. I have not moved to their WiFi routers, because I'm using another Enterprise system that has about 10,000 features I don't use and is five times the price - but it's paid for, and I have no need to replace it yet. When I DO, Ubiquiti is in the running - as long as I don't have to use their cloud services to manage it.

I don't see myself "subscribing" to manage my local infrastructure. Ever.
