Thanks. This will help me extend my search.

I have one. The added weight is minimal, and it does correct for subtlety bumpy roads. In my book, it’s a no brainer.

....here is one thing I don't understand......people are often concerned with hygiene etc.....and yet......people in the bicycle world often sell their equipment used.....which includes clothing.....bike short, unitard, etc.......often worn with no underwear....so essentially, one is wearing another person's 'used' underwear.......

Why is seat suspension so rare in bikes?

I think the mentioned common aftermarket availability might be part of it.

The two mentions of hating it and lot being comfortable aren't particularly informative, but do make me wonder.

Real seat suspension is rare in vehicles, in general.

Some tractors (as in semi-trucks have it.

It was common in motorcycles decades ago.

Having your body move in relation to the vehicle is probably disconcerting to some.

I've never used a seat with suspension on my bike, an old Univega that has no suspension whatsoever.

But I wonder if reaching full travel on compression or extension of the seat post isn't particularly annoying compared to front or rear suspension.

Seat post suspension wouldn't help me feel 'one with the bike'.
