Senate Minority Curmudgeon Mitch McConnell dismissed a compromise voting rights act proposed by Senator Joe Manchin,
"Senate Democrats seem to have reached a so-called 'compromise' election takeover among themselves. In reality, the plan endorsed by Stacey Abrams is no compromise," McConnell said.
Manchin has resisted any changes to the filibuster saying it was too partisan. He insisted that the act address Republican desires. His efforts were dismissed out of hand by McConnell.

Manchin is the new McConnell - a couple of old farts who'd serve themselves and everyone else better by just retiring…

Once they gain power Dems usually manage to come up with a designated "bad actor" to blame for not enacting the policies they campaigned on - anyone remember Joe Lieberman?

Sure do. He was a real fart.
Glad he’s gone.

Joe Manchin, in a private call on Monday with a group of major donors, provided a revealing look at his political approach to some of the thorniest issues confronting lawmakers.
The remarks were given on a Zoom teleconference session that was obtained by The Intercept.
The meeting was hosted by the group No Labels, a big money operation co-founded by former Sen. Joe Lieberman that funnels high-net-worth donor money to conservative Democrats and moderate Republicans. Among the gathering’s newsworthy revelations: Manchin described an openness to filibuster reform at odds with his most recent position that will buoy some Democrats’ hopes for enacting their agenda.
