I got my AirPods 3 today...

...and I liiiike 'em!

First, they fit me really well, a tad snugger than the 2s, and are quite comfortable.

Second, they sound noticeably better than the Gen 1 and 2 'Pods.

They've got a little more bass for a warmer sound without the mids sounding muddy.

The highs are decent, brighter than the 2s but not quite 'bright'.

They also have more detail than the 2s, which I didn't expect.

The increased warmth is probably a function of the shape 'sealing' better as much as whatever magic smoke Apple might have injected.

These also make Apple's Spatial Audio sound decent.

With all the other BT 'buds I have, SA is thin with the vocals and mids stepping back on the stage, not a pleasant sound at all.

The Head Tracking was interesting, but I turned it off.

These are by no means anything near audiophile quality, but they're a noticeable improvement and I'll get another pair when there's another sale.

The wireless charging case is part of the kit, not optional as with the 2s.

And a nice perk — these can be charged by MagSafe.

I don't know if they'll charge with the wannabe QI mats and MagSafe simulators, but that would be another perk.

God, I love these!

Yup. I tried the beats pro first and came to the conclusion that for me silicone tips weren’t gonna work. Ordered a pair of pod 2s mostly by mistake but will send them back now that I have the 3s. Not audiophile quality sound but pretty decent.

My experience exactly.

Not all silicone tips work for me (some work really really well, but that's a NSFW post).

It depends on the shape of the tips and the buds they're on.

In some cases memory foam tips will fix the fit, but I haven't found third party versions that work.

I tried the APP, no joy, and a slight improvement with Powerbeats Pro, but they're good for an hour at most before I rip them from my ears.

That return window closed long ago, shame on me.

Some Beats Flex 'buds do Ok, but they still slip a little, and don't sound as good as the AP3.

But they'll stay.

I just got some AP2s from Jeff a month ago, and the return window is the end of January, I believe.

So they're going back.
