First time I've waited in a line for gasoline since the odd/even days of 1974.

BJs must not have Costco's business volume. There is ALWAYS a line at the Costco pumps near me and has been for years.

That is flat out price gouging.

This. It doesn't have to be this expensive. Yes, Putin's insanity is a factor but not the whole reason. That discussion would get this thread bumped to the Other Side.

And you EV drivers-don't forget that if your electricity comes from a coal-fired power plant you're putting more carbon in the air charging your vehicle. And the Powers That Be will be starting a tax on EVs to make up for losing the gas taxes.

Also, I just saw that car insurance is up to 30% higher for an EV...

Washington State already has a tax on EVs and Plug-in hybrids. It is supposed to help pay for a plug-in network, but, of course, they haven't started building it yet..... It is an $80 line item on my Plug-in-Prius.

So does GA. I believe it's up to $230 for a full EV. doesn't apply to the Volt though unless you want the Eco plate that allows driving in the HOV lane with only the driver.

First off there's no shortage of crude and gasoline. What I'm about to say is not propaganda, been using the website below for a long time.

It seems like there is a lot of this going on...seems like the car companies have figured out if they just build half as many cars and charge twice as much...dealers also seem to like the ability to charge huge markups rather than talk about discounts.

Manufactured shortages...

$4.85/gal for regular on base (Pendleton & NEX) is now the least expensive in the far southwest corner. But unless you have access, you'll pay much more. Least expensive off base is $5.39/gal at a few independents.

The "top tier" stations are more than $5.39/gal, and freeway stations - best to keep on driving. A few are over $6/gal. California gets slammed because of the excessive state taxes on gasoline. Gotta pay for those express lanes somehow …

taxes aren't that much of $4.59 gas . Local stations in Oregon show the tax amount . 23 cent federal and 35 cent state . They are talking about raising the state .
