What Apple iron will be needed for the new OS onslaught.

What hardware you need to run iOS 16, iPadOS 16, watchOS 9, macOS Ventura, and tvOS 16

New versions of Apple's operating systems generally come with new lists of compatible hardware. Here are what you need to run iOS 16, watch OS 9, iPadOS 16, macOS Ventura, and tvOS 16:

an iPhone launched in fall 2017 or later to use iOS 16

an Apple Watch launched in fall 2018 or later to use watchOS 9
an iPhone running iOS 16 to be paired to the Apple Watch in order to use the new watchOS software

an Apple TV launched in fall 2015 or later to use tvOS 16

an iPad launched in fall 2015 or later that uses at least an A9X processor to use iPadOS 16

To summarize, if all of your Apple devices in the ecosystem are purchased new from Apple in fall 2018 or later, all of them will get the latest software.

A complete, itemized list is at https://forums.macresource.com/posting.php?1

I was to lazy (tired, mostly) even to CnP the list of individual Macs and iPads, but they and the other devices are listed above.

I haven’t bothered with Monterey yet. Big Sur and T2 chips provide me with enough aggravation.
