Despite what his coach says, he wasn't merely, "In the wrong place at the wrong time" because he is alleged to have brought the weapon to the scene.

Given how lax laws are in the southern states regarding guns, I'm inclined to believe that he may not have known what was about to go down. It's like saying, "I need my gun at the Dairy Queen, can you drive over here?" Sort of. Don't expect to understand that culture of constant guns, but unless he hid the thing after the fact, he's probably not going to be charged.

The local police are referring to him as a "cooperating witness"

But, ya know, #guiltyuntilproveninnocent !

Unfortunately, this will likely be the end result. Same thing happened to a kicker out this way - accused of raping a 17 year old, but not tried (not enough evidence for a conviction). He was signed by Buffalo, and then just as quickly jettisoned. He'll never play a professional game. Career in pro football over before it was ever able to get off the ground.

While the accusations and allegations in both cases are quite serious, that's all they are until they've been adjudicated in a court of law. These days, the Court of Instagram and Twitter assigns both guilt and sentence before anyone even gets to find out what actually happened …

However, his pregame introduction "pat-down" was just plain creepy. And not really very bright…

Do I hear "Let's go, Brandon!" cheers in the background?
